SUMMARY:Peer Supporter Training
DESCRIPTION:Durham Community Health Centre (DCHC) and GraceWins Peer Support (GraceWins) are partnering to bring GraceWins’ empowering Peer Supporter Training to clients of DCHC. This is an in-person training offered at DCHC’s Oshawa South location. \nGraceWins Peer Supporter Training \nThe GraceWins Mental Health Peer Supporter Training is based on Peer2Peer\, a widely respected European Commission-funded vocational training collaborative comprising eight organizations from across Europe. The training groups are no more than 8 people to maximize the group learning dynamic. It is facilitated to encourage conversation in participants by drawing on their lived experiences. The training comprises 12-14 weekly classes of an hour-and-a-half each. \nFor Whom? \nPersons with lived experience of mental health challenges that have a desire to serve as peer supporters and\, who\, we believe\, possess the attributes to become highly effective peer supporters. \nBy Whom?\nThe GraceWins Mental Health Peer Supporter Training is developed and delivered by GraceWins DreamTeam Lead Percy D’Souza. Percy is a Peer Support Canada certified peer supporter and community mental health advocate. An ‘ex-severe\, treatment resistant\, psychotic depressive’\, Percy has facilitated courses at the Recovery Colleges in Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences and CMHA Durham. He has served on various mental health-related committees in Durham including Lakeridge Health and Ontario Shores. DESCRIPTION:The Indigenous Women’s Healing Circle is to help women along in their healing journeys. This allows participants to become aware of what is happening mentally\, physically\, and spiritually once affected by trauma and when in a triggered state. \nConfidentiality is important in creating a safe space for emotional expression. What is shared in our group stays in our group. We want to create a safe space where women feel comfortable and confident being vulnerable in front of the group. \nJournals will be given out to participants for daily journaling. These are personal journals will allow us to log our feelings\, things throughout our day\, hopes\, dreams\, stresses\, and anything else that may be bringing strong emotion. \nThis event is full. A waitlist will be provided. DESCRIPTION:Durham Community Health Centre (DCHC) and GraceWins Peer Support (GraceWins) are partnering to bring GraceWins’ empowering Peer Supporter Training to clients of DCHC. This is an in-person training offered at DCHC’s Oshawa South location. \nGraceWins Peer Supporter Training \nThe GraceWins Mental Health Peer Supporter Training is based on Peer2Peer\, a widely respected European Commission-funded vocational training collaborative comprising eight organizations from across Europe. The training groups are no more than 8 people to maximize the group learning dynamic. It is facilitated to encourage conversation in participants by drawing on their lived experiences. The training comprises 12-14 weekly classes of an hour-and-a-half each. \nFor Whom? \nPersons with lived experience of mental health challenges that have a desire to serve as peer supporters and\, who\, we believe\, possess the attributes to become highly effective peer supporters. \nBy Whom?\nThe GraceWins Mental Health Peer Supporter Training is developed and delivered by GraceWins DreamTeam Lead Percy D’Souza. Percy is a Peer Support Canada certified peer supporter and community mental health advocate. An ‘ex-severe\, treatment resistant\, psychotic depressive’\, Percy has facilitated courses at the Recovery Colleges in Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences and CMHA Durham. He has served on various mental health-related committees in Durham including Lakeridge Health and Ontario Shores. Percy is presently a member of the Lakeridge Mental Health & Addictions Consumer Advisory Panel\, and also a member of  Durham OHT’s Patient Family and Care Partner Advisory Committee. \n  \nTo Register\, or for more information email connect@gracewins139.com\, or click here.

DESCRIPTION:The Indigenous Women’s Healing Circle is to help women along in their healing journeys. This allows participants to become aware of what is happening mentally\, physically\, and spiritually once affected by trauma and when in a triggered state. \nConfidentiality is important in creating a safe space for emotional expression. What is shared in our group stays in our group. We want to create a safe space where women feel comfortable and confident being vulnerable in front of the group. \nJournals will be given out to participants for daily journaling. These are personal journals will allow us to log our feelings\, things throughout our day\, hopes\, dreams\, stresses\, and anything else that may be bringing strong emotion. \nThis event is full. A waitlist will be provided.
