DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Mother’s Day\, join us to explore the journey of mental health as it is directly affected by black hair\, stigma\, and appearance. \nThis workshop will be educational and interactive\, providing culturally-affirming care for Black Hair. \n10:30am – 1:00pm: Caregiver-only session where participants will: \n\nExplore the impact of black hair on mental health\, stigma\, and appearance\nLearn about hair loss due to conditions like Alopecia\, cancer\, traumatic accidents\, and medication\nLearn how to care for and style Black hair\n\n4:00 – 6:00pm: Session for caregivers and their children where earlier learnings will be practiced by caregivers with their children. Caregivers will then assist their children in learning how to care for Black hair using provided dolls. \nNote: this event has a capacity of 20 participants.
