and interactive games. HYPE Summer Camp is dedicated to Helping Youth Pursue Excellence and ensuring a memorable experience for every participant through diverse and engaging activities. Registration opens April 22, 2025.

 

When: July 7 – August 22, 2025 Monday-Friday

Cost: Standard: $160/Week, Subsidized: $90/Week

Schedule

July 7 – 11: Into The Wilderness

Campers will immerse themselves in nature, learning essential survival skills like shelter-building and navigation. They will explore the great outdoors through fun scavenger hunts and team challenges.

 

July 14 – 18: STEM In Action

Campers will jump into the world of STEM, exploring hands-on activities that spark creativity and critical thinking. They will tackle creative problem-solving tasks that bring their innovative ideas to life.

 

July 21 – 25: Festival of Fun

Campers will explore carnival-inspired games, arts and crafts, and friendly competitions. From designing their own festival merch to participating in wacky relay races. Campers will finish the week with mini games and prizes.

 

July 28 – August 1: Quest for the Cup

Campers will channel their inner athlete through a week full of exciting sports and team challenges. They will focus on enhancing their skills and developing strategies for the ultimate camp-wide tournament.

 

August 5 – 8*: Walk of Fame

Campers will step into the spotlight and experience the stardom of Hollywood. Campers will participate in red carpet events and take part in acting and performance-based games. The week concludes with an award ceremony and movie screening.

*This week contains a statutory holiday. HYPE Summer Camp will not be running on the Civic Holiday (August 4).

 

August 11 – 15: Around the World

Campers will embark on a world tour without leaving camp. Each day, campers will discover a new country or region through international sports, cultural games, and iconic crafts. Campers will experience the diversity of the world while creating memories along the way.

 

August 18 – 22: Splash of Colour

Campers will dive into a week of vibrant creativity and teamwork. They will explore different art forms, from tie-dye to creating colourful murals. The week culminates in a fun-filled water day, where campers will splash around in water-themed colour challenges.

 

 

Important Information

Age Requirements
HYPE Summer Camp is available to children ages 8-12. Participants must be at least 8 years age of before the first day of Camp.

 

What to Bring to Camp
Please send participants with the following:
•Lunch and snacks (nut-free)
•Refillable water bottle
•Sunscreen
•Hat
•Extra clothing (if needed)

 

Lunches and Snacks
Participants are expected to bring their own lunches, snacks, and drinks every day. We are a nut-sensitive environment, so please avoid packing any nuts or nut products. No alternative lunches will be available.

 

Cancellation Policy
Registration fees for HYPE Summer Camp must be paid in full via e-transfer at the time of registration. Cancellations must be made in writing at least 2 weeks before the cancelled week, with no refunds for late cancellations. Additionally, no refunds are given for late arrival, early departure, withdrawal, or dismissal. Medical cancellations may be considered, with refunds provided for major illness, injury, or serious family situations.

 

Media Policy
Parents/guardians may give consent for photos to be taken of the participants attending camp; this could be them engaging in some activity, showing off a craft that they’ve created, or having fun with others. If parents/guardians give consent, these photos may be used as promotional materials.

 

Pick Up and Drop Off
DCHC requires that parents/guardians identify those that are authorized to pick up the participant from HYPE Summer Camp. Those authorized to pick-up the participant may be required to present government issued ID upon picking up the participant. Those not authorized during the registration process will not be permitted to pick up the participant.

 

Code of Conduct
Our Code of Conduct outlines the expected behavior for participants at HYPE Summer Camp, emphasizing respect, safety, inclusivity, teamwork, honesty, positivity, and continuous improvement. It encourages treating others kindly, using positive language, respecting personal space, following safety rules, caring for the environment, embracing diversity, working collaboratively, being truthful, maintaining a positive attitude, and being open to feedback. Failure to comply may result in dismissal from HYPE Summer Camp.

 

Extended Care
Extended care is not available for HYPE Summer Camp. Camp will operate from 9:00am-3:30pm. Please ensure that the participants get dropped off and picked up on time.

 

About Our Staff
HYPE Summer Camp staff are carefully selected based on their experience caring for children, leadership skills, enthusiasm, and maturity. They have been through extensive training, and have a satisfactory criminal reference check with a vulnerable sector check.

 

F.A.Q.

 

What if I’m late picking up my camper?
If you anticipate being more than 5 minutes late at the end of the day, please contact DCHC directly to notify the staff. This will allow us to make necessary arrangements for your camper’s care until you arrive.

 

What if someone else will be picking up my camper?
If someone other than the individuals listed at the point of registration will be picking up your camper, please notify the camp staff. Anyone we haven’t previously met may be required to present a government-issued ID. If an unauthorized person arrives to pick up your camper, we will contact you for verbal approval before allowing the release of your camper.

 

What should my camper leave at home?
We kindly request that campers leave toys, electronics, and other valuable items at home. HYPE Summer Camp is not responsible for items that are lost or damaged during the day.

 

How do I get the subsidized rate?
To receive the subsidized rate, you must meet specific eligibility criteria based on financial eligibility and social/situational factors . You will also be asked to provide proof of household income. There is only a limited number of subsidized spaces available. Please contact us for more information on the requirements and process. We are happy to assist you in determining if you qualify for the subsidized rate.

 

Do you have extended hours available?
We do not offer extended hours. Our camp operates within the scheduled hours, and we ask that campers be picked up on time at the end of each day.

 

What should my camper bring for lunch?
Please pack a lunch that doesn’t require refrigeration or microwaving, and consider using an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack to keep food fresh. We encourage reusable containers to reduce waste. Pack any needed utensils, as we do not provide them. Water is provided at any point during the day, so please send a refillable water bottle with your camper. We are a nut-sensitive environment, so please avoid packing any nuts or nut products.

 

What is expected of me if I’m asked to pick up my camper?
If your camper becomes ill during the day or is unable to stay at camp for any reason, we will contact you to arrange for pick-up. If you are unable to pick up your camper before the end of the day, you will need to make alternative arrangements to ensure they are picked up from camp.

 

What are your staff to camper ratios?
Our staff-to-camper ratio is 1:6. This ensures that each camper receives the attention and supervision they need throughout the day. We prioritize a safe and engaging environment by maintaining manageable group sizes.
