Rotinonshonni Clan Systems and the roles of Onkwehonwe Women

November 17, 2025 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Consensus is the primary mode of governance among the Rotinonshonni. To reach consensus, all minds have to be consulted and discuss the issue at hand. Join the Indigenous Team at DCHC for an evening discussion featuring Karenniyo.

Karenniyo is from the Mohawk Nation, Sha’tekarihwate Turtle Clan Family from Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. Karenniyo is a learner/speaker of the Mohawk language and works in community language revitalization efforts.

We will be discussing Kanienkeha’ka Clan systems through this interactive workshop where we will be exploring and actively learning about the principles that guide how decisions are reached through consensus.
