How to Fundraise for DCHC this Valentine’s Day!

Heart being held by multiple handsValentines Day is a time for spreading love, and what better way to share that love than by raising funds for a worthy cause?

Whether you’re planning a fundraiser at school, your workplace, or with your community group, there are several creative and fun ways to get involved. Hosting a chocolate fundraiser, flower sale, or candy gram event can make a big impact, all while celebrating the spirit of the season.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to hosting each type of fundraiser.

  1. Plan Your Event
    • Choose your fundraiser type: Decide whether you want to host a chocolate fundraiser, flower sale, or candy gram event.
    • Set your fundraising goal: Determine how much money you want to raise and if there’s a specific Equity-based Program at DCHC you’d like your donation to go towards!
    • Pick a location: Decide whether to sell your items in-person at a central location or offer pre-orders for delivery or pickup. Host your event at a high-traffic area, like your school, workplace, or a community space. Consider offering delivery within your chosen location (i.e., delivering classroom to classroom, office to office, etc.)

  1. Get Your Supplies
    • Chocolate Fundraiser: Purchase chocolates (bars, truffles, or other treats) from a local vendor or bulk supplier.
    • Flower Sale Fundraiser: Partner with a local florist to buy flowers in advance. Consider offering roses, carnations, or small mixed bouquets.
    • Candy Gram Fundraiser: Choose candies to sell and get small bags/boxes for packaging candy grams. Include cards for personalized messages.

  1. Set Your Pricing
    • Set prices based on your costs and the amount you’d like to raise.

  1. Promote Your Fundraiser
    • Use social media, flyers, and email to spread the word about your event.
    • If possible, offer people the option to order in advance; consider setting up an online form. For candy grams, make sure they know how to personalize their messages.

  1. Sell Your Items
    • In-Person Selling: Set up your booth to sell your chocolates, flowers, or candy grams at your chosen location on Valentine’s Day. Have clear signage stating that all proceeds go to DCHC!
    • Pre-Orders: If you’ve offered pre-orders, prepare your orders for pickup or delivery.
    • Delivery: If you choose to provide delivery, be sure to make the delivery as festive and fun as possible!

  1. Donate the Proceeds
    • After your fundraiser ends, calculate the total funds raised.

Don’t forget to thank your supporters, letting them know how their contributions will make a difference!

Regardless of which fundraiser you choose—chocolates, flowers, or candy grams—all are great ways to raise money for a worthy cause on Valentines Day. Keep the process simple, spread the love, and donate the proceeds to make a meaningful impact!
